Terms Of Service
Effective September 15, 2026. Last updated September 15, 2026.
These Terms of Service govern your use of truenorth.cpa, the website of True North Tax & Accounting, Inc. ("True North," "we," "us" or "our"), a Michigan corporation. By accessing or using this site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the site.
About True North
True North Tax & Accounting, Inc. provides accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation, business formation and advisory services to business owners and individuals. We are a remote firm serving clients throughout the State of Michigan and, virtually, in other locations.
Information On This Site Is General
Everything published on this website is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute accounting, tax, financial, investment or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice about your specific situation. Tax law, accounting standards and filing requirements change often and apply differently to different facts. Do not act or refrain from acting on the basis of anything you read here without obtaining advice about your own circumstances.
We make reasonable efforts to keep the site accurate and current, but we make no representation that the content is complete, correct or up to date at the time you read it.
No Professional Relationship Is Created By This Site
Using this site, submitting a form, requesting a consultation or sending us a message does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship between you and True North. A relationship begins only when both parties sign a written engagement letter or scope of work describing the services to be provided.
Until an engagement is signed, we are not responsible for deadlines, filings, elections or any other matter affecting you, and you should not rely on us to monitor them.
Engagements, Scope And Fees
Services are provided under the terms of the engagement letter or scope of work signed for each matter. That document controls the services included, the services excluded, the deliverables, the schedule, the fees and the payment terms, and it takes precedence over these Terms of Service where the two differ.
Fees are agreed in writing before work begins. Work outside the agreed scope is performed only after it is discussed and documented. Invoices are due on the terms stated in the engagement documents, and we may suspend work on an account that is past due.
Your Responsibilities As A Client
Accounting and tax work depends entirely on the accuracy and completeness of the information provided to us. You are responsible for providing complete, accurate and timely records, source documents and explanations; for reviewing returns, statements and filings before they are submitted or relied upon; for retaining your own copies of records; and for the final content of any return or filing made in your name. We are not responsible for consequences arising from information that was incomplete, inaccurate or provided too late to act on.
Use Of This Website
You agree to use this site only for lawful purposes. You may not attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or any related system, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious code, scrape or harvest content or contact details, misrepresent your identity, or use the site in any way that could damage, disable or impair it.
Intellectual Property
The content of this site, including text, layout, graphics, logos, the True North name and mark, and the selection and arrangement of the material, is owned by True North Tax & Accounting, Inc. or its licensors and is protected by United States copyright and trademark law. You may view, download and print pages for your own reference. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, sell or create derivative works from this content for commercial purposes without our written permission.
Third-Party Links And Platforms
This site may link to third-party websites, scheduling tools, accounting platforms or payroll providers. Those services are operated by others and governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We provide the links for convenience and do not endorse, control or accept responsibility for third-party content, availability or practices.
Electronic Communications
By contacting us through this site you consent to receive communications from us electronically, including email and text message where you have provided a mobile number. Ordinary email is not a secure medium. Do not send Social Security numbers, account numbers, tax documents or other sensitive information by ordinary email. Secure transmission methods are provided to clients during an engagement.
Confidentiality
We treat client information as confidential and handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy, our professional obligations and applicable law, including the federal rules governing the confidentiality of tax return information.
Disclaimer Of Warranties
This website is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, True North disclaims all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or free of errors or harmful components, or that results obtained from using it will be accurate or reliable.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, True North Tax & Accounting, Inc., its officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of this website, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other theory, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to your use of this website will not exceed one hundred dollars. Liability arising from a signed engagement is governed by the limitation set out in that engagement letter rather than this section. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless True North Tax & Accounting, Inc. and its officers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss, liability, cost or expense, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your misuse of this site, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
Termination
We may modify, suspend or discontinue this website, or restrict access to it, at any time and without notice. The sections of these terms that by their nature should survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and governing law, survive any termination.
Governing Law And Venue
These terms and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of this website are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of law rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in the State of Michigan have exclusive jurisdiction and venue over any such dispute.
Changes To These Terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Continued use of the site after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
